Nashville, TN: Living in Music City, USA, I'm surrounded by songwriters. I've worked for some, I've run into some, I've dated some... mainly, I wish I WAS one. I have so many ideas that swarm around in my head, so many feelings and emotions that need to be freed, yet, when I try to come up with memorable lyrics or a catchy tune, it seems I end up with a poor rip off of "Eternal Flame" (circa 1989) while searching for a word that rhymes with narcissistic.
To help me get out of my writer's block (or lack of song-writing skills, period), I found some helpful information from one of my favorite songwriters (and former boss), John Mayer. After seeing this, everything became much clearer... you've either got it or you don't. And by "it," I mean... actually, I'll let John explain it himself.
For now, I'm sticking with a bottle of wine and my trusty iPod. Let someone else tell me how I'm feeling!
