Friday Night Quickie

East Chicago, IN:  Typical situation -- one of my favorite bands, Stephen Kellogg & the SK6ERS are playing in Nashville on Friday night;  showtime - 10:15pm.  I have a show in Chicago on Saturday;  bus call - 11:00pm Friday.  Because I'm in charge, I need to be at bus call by 10:30pm (pushing it), which means I can probably stay for one song... maybe two.  ONLY TWO SONGS?!  This is a band that not only has authentic, real life lyrics and an organic rock / tinged with a honest countrified sound, but also is 10x better live.  They don't play Nashville that often and when they do, I'm usually out of town, so the fact that I can only see two songs live is such a tease.

However, I'll take whatever I can get and what I got is actually a pretty good deal:  two hours of catching up in their dressing room, discussion on where they are in their career -- how far they've come and where they want to go, watching them create the night's set list (which included going to their website and looking at their last Nashville set list to make sure it wasn't a complete duplicate), getting a private acoustic performance / warm up of "Seven Bridges Road," and getting to see -- not just two -- but LUCKILY two incredible songs that I could play again in my head (and on my iPod) as I sit here, in my hotel room, hours and miles away.
