Cleveland, OH: Since once of my duties includes booking travel for the band and crew, the sales contact of a hotel property might sometime leave a little gift in my room as a thank you for staying there (or, more appropriately, "please come back and spend your money here again soon."). I've gotten fruit baskets, cheese & cracker trays and the always appreciated bottles of wine.
Today, however, wins the award for best gift to leave the tour manager in her room: a conference table. Now, I know this 3'x9' piece isn't something completely out of the ordinary in a setting such as this, but when it's 8:30am and you're only going to be here - at the most - 5 hours and there's a normal-sized desk that would work just fine -- the idea of a conference table IN MY ROOM seems a bit over the top.
Of course, I am using it right now. Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?
