London, England: Ahhhh... a day off. In London. What could be better? Except that I have to work. Not complaining -- I love what I do -- but if I have to work, I will do it IN London. Even if it means sitting at a Starbucks and watching London-ers walk by.
We played a new venue (for me) --
Shepherd's Bush Empire, now owned by 02 (good 'ol sponsorship) -- which means a new location, which means new photos (love).
I was able to take the evening off, have amazing Indian food (at a restaurant frequented by the Beatles during their
Abbey Road sessions), then meeting up with a friend for a cocktail in
Notting Hill. My favorite accomplishment that night was being able to hop on the
Tube and figuring out exactly where I needed to go without
much guidance.
Thanks to
Facebook, I reconnected - randomly and beautifully - with 2 friends from college (or 'uni' as the one who's acquired the British accent after living there for 7 years says) at the show. The other one popped in during a stop on his day off as a flight attendant. Funny how we all set out to achieve our goals 12+ years ago, and here we are... all doing it.
The show was brilliant -- a new guitar tech who just DID IT, a friend of the band who offered creative assistance on keys & accordion, and a packed house (and great merch sales!) -- London is just truly lovely.
