Meet The Parents

Nashville, TN: There inevitably comes a time in every substantial relationship where you have to meet your SO's parents. You can do as much research and preparation as you'd like, but it basically comes down to simply showing up. I arranged the first meeting of the boy and M&D as something casual, something stress-free, something you do everyday.

Actually, the complete opposite of that.

The Thanksgiving dinner.

Because M & I were cooking (yes, I actually cooked), the boy was left alone with D in the living room to chat about guy things (football? the weather? 'what are your intentions with my daughter?'). The good news (that I somehow totally spaced on): the boy is an awesome listener + D is a master storyteller = easy conversation!

After a fairly stress-free meal (thank you tryptophan and pinot), I planned the next day's bonding adventure -- competitive games!

With a bit of trivia-answering,

hoop-shooting (is that M making the shot & not D?!?)

and prize-winning,

I'm fairly certain that we can all breath easier now, knowing that the initial hard part is done and everyone passed the test.

And it was a good reminder to me of how much more balanced it feels with with 4, rather than 3....
