Wine & Sweet Pickles

On a plane somewhere between Nashville, TN and Omaha, NE: In the life of the gal-on-the go, there's not a lot of time for that day to day stuff that needs to be taken care of. I mean, I'm busy researching and scheduling and anticipating. But I want to keep my life (and house) organized and, of course, save the world while I'm at it.

So, I jumped the ad posted on the Lockeland Springs listserve, stating that little 6 year old Gunner provided a glass recycling pick up service every two months for only $5 a month. He would provide the plastic bin and I simply have to put my glassware in it the night before he collects it. A steal, considering it would save me lugging them all down the steps from my second floor condo, piling them into the back of my hatchback and driving them to the nearest glass-accepting recycling facility.

Though on my first pickup, I realized my bin was entirely full of wine bottles, a few (too many) beer bottles... and 1 jar of Mt. Olive sweet pickles.

I hope this project teaches Gunner the importance of having a good work ethic, keeping the planet green, and never judging those on-the-go gals that sometimes only have time for wine and sweet pickles.

(Even when they get photographed for the paper. Sans wine bottles, thankfully.)
