If

In a car somewhere between Memphis & Nashville: Ok, my last video blog post for a while (I'm guessing) and technically I won't be able to upload this video until I reach some sort of stable internet connection, but I wanted to share a few thoughts & video images of a version of my weekend experience.

I went to Memphis this weekend as a part of the Thistle Farms / Abingdon Press Find Your Way Home Prison Tour. We spoke & sold product at a home party on Saturday, a church on Sunday and today, we shared a message of hope with inmates at the Mark H. Luttrell Correctional Center. I was on hand to photograph and, without really meaning to, was reminded that sometimes all you need is love.

I'm still in processing mode (both photographs and inner thoughts), so I'll write about that later at the Thistle Farms blog. For now, I want to leave you with a video from a friend's similar project in Seattle, WA called The If Project. Inmates at the Washington Corrections Center for Women answer the question “If there was something someone could have said or done that would have changed the path that led you here, what would it have been?” A pretty powerful question followed by some pretty intense responses. Watch and learn. A good reminder that the "them" and "us" aren't really that far apart....
