The Best Part Of Waking Up

New Orleans, LA: The best part of waking up is not what I had originally thought. Instead, I know it as walking through the streets of the French Quarter, hearing local street musicians play the blues, and meeting up with a friend for beignets and cafe au laits.

And not just any donuts and coffee (in layman's terms) but the house speciality at Cafe Du Monde, a New Orleans tradition, opened for over 100 years and 24 hours a day. And not just any friend but one who is touring on a different schedule and somehow ends up in the same city on the same day (thanks to stars aligning and buses driving).

The catching up, the drinking up, the laughing it up -- all thanks to this vagabond lifestyle - THAT is the best part of waking up. And when we part, I'm left walking the streets of New Orleans with a grateful heart, a smile on my face and powdered sugar glasses.
