Fine Wine

On a bus somewhere between Calgary, AB and Grande Prairie, AB: For obvious awesome reasons, I was very focused on my birthday wish coming true yesterday and spent most of the day tallying up final amounts ($2,085 for Thistle Farms!). However, yesterday, as a whole, was just lovely and I wanted to share a few other morsels that made it so.

- Arrived at the Hyatt Calgary around 10:30am. Was greeted with completed key packets by the fabulous Convention Services Manager, had bus parking directly in front of the hotel, free wireless internet and Starbucks less than a block away. I swear - it's the little things that really matter.

- Received a fax from my BFF in North Carolina with a personalized birthday crossword puzzle, containing inside jokes and secrets as clues and answers!

- Though I am strongly anti-Twitter, received a tweet from @Thistle Farms with love from the community (via our Head Twit).

- Was surprised with a massage at the spa from the boss. Walking away from my phone and computer for 2 hours was both challenging and refreshing!

- Returned to my room to find a gift from the hotel (again - service here is great!), which was a perfect treat before a delicious dinner with 3 road friends.

- Received tons of phone messages, texts, emails & facebook posts, including this serenade (via YouTube) by the lead singer of The 9s, one of my favorite funky bands of all times!

It occurred to me that life, at 35, is like a fine wine... it only gets better with age.

(and speaking of wine... is it Easter yet?!?!)
