New Edition

Nashville, TN:

Please welcome the newest edition to my life:

Ladies & Gentlemen, the Canon 7D
(with the already-in-the-family Tamron 18-270 lens attached).

I've been toying around with the idea of getting a new camera for a while now and the other day, I just did it. Online shopping makes it super easy for immediate gratification (even though I had to wait a few days to actually receive it). Plus, I used Goodsearch shopping and 2.5% of my purchase will be donated to Thistle Farms (of course). Now, any sort of buyer's remorse can be completely wiped away, knowing I did a good deed for my favorite charity. (or so I'm telling myself....)

I needed to get out and get to know my new lovely, so I headed to Centennial Park to try to catch some shots and throw in a little cardio while I was at it. Here are some of the results:

Everything has been photoshopped a bit (some more than others), but this one is pretty much the real deal. I love how clear the photo is and I took it from far away, as to not to scare the squirrel before he attacked the container of leftover goodies....

I caught a wedding photo shoot and tried to inconspicuously snap a shot of the bride and her reflection in the water.

Make that two wedding shoots! I was literally hiding in the bushes to capture this moment.

Enjoying a little Saturday evening music.

The magical (almost) full moon.

As usual, I couldn't let a shoot go without using a little sepia to vintage-up a photo.

My latest photo craze is adding texture. I'm still new at it, but am finding real excitement into making an otherwise average photo look pretty above-average.

One more texture-added pic. This one actually has two layers of texture.

I have a feeling most of my time will be spent either behind the lens or in front of the computer... which is actually not much different from what I do now! But this time around, I've got a new edition that has already given me a much needed creativity boost.
