#2: Seeing random friends in cities I normally never go to except when I have a show there.
One of the best parts of living a touring life is, well, the touring part. Sometimes I get to really amazing places like London and San Francisco and New York City. And other times I get to go to not-as-glamourous places like... Auburn Hills, MI. Not that there's anything specifically wrong with this
8-Mile-adjacent city, per se, but there's just nothing really there.
EXCEPT...
for two family friends, one of whom lives there and the other one who came here just to visit me (and see a show, but still)! It makes being in Auburn Hills (or insert random city name here) that much sweeter.
Some other of my favorite stops along the journey (in the past 8 months or so) have been:
catching up on a day off in Boston with a college pal,
seeing old friends from the past in Indianapolis (and marveling at how big they've gotten!),
and getting a special visit from my BFF in
Rancho Mirage with some of her colleagues (one of them being
Charlie Soap, which makes this "Charlie and his angels" photo completely appropriate).
So bring on the next random city USA. You never know what sort of blasts from the past I'll be lucky enough to catch up with.
