On a bus somewhere between Rosemont, IL and Nashville: I should be curling up in my bunk to get the 6 hours of sleep I'm guaranteed before I have to get off the bus and readjust to my other/non-touring life, but instead, I'm perusing blogs mindlessly. It's such a great way to relax after back-to-back shows, yet I find it funny that staring at a computer screen is my source of zoning-out, when I've been doing nothing BUT that exact same thing for 12+ hours a day.
My new favorite blog is my friend, Ellen's, called
Black And White And Loved All Over. She's another
Eastie, a creative type, a music lover with a gorgeous family and a great laugh. My favorite part of her blogs is that she posts pictures of herself from every day life. Like what she wears on date night. And what she's cooking for dinner. And most of the time, her just-as-hip husband, Nekos, takes the pictures with his Canon 7D, which are simply -- lovely.
Which leads me to this post. I have a 7D. I take pictures. I do stuff. :) So why aren't I posting more? I think part of my hold up is that I'm sooooo particular on my post-production work. I can't just put a picture out there without a little extra love. But when I take 300+ pictures on one photo shoot or trip, it's hard to narrow down and touch up in a timely manner.
Luckily, taking pictures for the
365 Project has inspired me to at least pay more attention to what's around me than I normally do. And in addition to taking a picture each day, I'm going to also try to be better at posting more photos here of the seemingly "normal" parts of my life. It probably won't be much of what I'm wearing or cooking, a la Ellen, but it will hopefully continue to push me on my creative path.
So, even though it's a bit late, I wanted to post pictures from a dinner date last month with the boy. I brought my camera with me that night, in hopes of taking some romantic snapshots of our evening together and actually captured a few I'm pretty happy with... without annoying him too much.
(Ok, technically it was Valentine's Day, but I wasn't sure what the limit was on when you could still talk about the holiday once it's happened.)
I was a bit worried that the tradition may have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but again this year, my sweet surprised me mid-day with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, especially designed for moi.

And he gave me a little something else special -- a Wine Journal with the tag line "journals for the loves of your life" which I'd like to add - "from MY love"

For dinner, we finally ventured to a restaurant in our neck of the woods which we had yet to try, the Holland House.
It was very earthy and cozy and provided all of us sickening couples in love with a set Valentine's Day menu.
To make it a night to remember, they also gave each of the ladies a rose as they departed. Which I took this beautiful photo of... then promptly forgot to take home with me.

Ahhh... I feel better now. Accomplished. Complete. And now, really tired. I bid you adieu and look forward to our next virtual rendezvous.
