The Big Help

Nashville, TN: In the midst of my musing, mulling and mourning, I lost focus on an important event going on around me: the 10th year anniversary celebration of Thistle Farms. Not that I haven't been totally engrossed in the preparations, and if you see me on Facebook or Twitter or just by talking to me, you'll already know about it. But I hadn't had a chance to really reflect on it and get it out in blog land.

I know I always talk about it and feature it on my website and tons of blog posts (and Facebook... and Flickr... and now Twitter...), but it is such a huge part of my life that I can't imagine what I'd be doing now if I weren't involved with it. Not only does it give me a project to work on in my down time (I do love a good project), but the amount of strength and grace these women posses make me want to be a better person.

I believe there's a reason we were all put on this earth. Some of us were made to lead, some of us were made to follow, some of us were made to perform, some of us were made to organize those performers. But the common theme I feel that we all are responsible to do is simply, help others. The "how" isn't as important as the "when." And the "when," to me, is: as often as possible.

I am very blessed. I have a job, a home, friends, family, health -- what good is it for me to sit with all of that around me and not share? I was given plenty so I can give. And what I receive from that giving -- a hug from Katrina, a note from Jennifer or inspiration from Tracey -- fills me up more than any other other form of happiness I've tried.

So here's what my help looks like this time around: I want to help raise $10,000 during the month of June to provide education and training for 10 new women beginning work - and a new way of life - at Thistle Farms.

This is how YOU can help:

- Go to Thistle Farms' Facebook Cause page. Click on the "GIVE" button (a Facebook account is not necessary to donate).

- Choose the tier you like or create your own amount and follow instructions.

- Important: Whether you can give or not, share this link with your friends on email and via Facebook (just "Like" the link).

In the words of Jerry Mcguire, help me help you help them (errrr... something like that....) ...just please help! And when I say The BIG Help, I mean whatever you can do is totally worth it.

Many thanks from my heart to yours....
