The Sequel

Nashville, TN:   I'm still not a believer in happy endings. The idealized Hollywood "he comes back and they live happily ever after" wrap to all major motion pictures is something made up to make girls pine for an unrealistic finale.

But then again, maybe I'm wrong.

Sometimes he does come back.  And sometimes time apart is just what you need to realize how much you miss that person.  But this isn't any Hollywood ending.  There's work to be done.  It's about constant communication and putting my needs on the table.  It's being strong enough to stand up for myself, but flexible enough to compromise.  It's saying "I'm sorry" when I'm wrong and expecting nothing less than total respect from my partner.  It's about laughing and loving and letting go of my fairy tail illusions of "happiness."

Though I still don't know how this movie sequel will end, I'm overwhelmed with true happiness that I have a starring role in it.
