On a plane somewhere between Denver, CO and Bozeman, MT: The part of any plane ride I dread the most is not the security lines, not the small seats (yes, even for me) and not even the completely exhausted feeling I have once I get done with a 8 hour travel day. Ok, well maybe I dread that part a little bit. But more importantly, the part I dread the most is the time in between taking off and reaching 10,000 feet and the time when we're "beginning our initial descent." Why? Because that is when we're instructed to turn off all portable electronic devices. Hmpf. I'm sure there's a good reason why but it still bugs me. And although I suppose I could read or meditate or take a much needed cat-nap, I'd really rather be blogging.
But, this blog series is about focusing on the opposite of the negative bits of touring life. So, instead of pointing out the parts I dread about flying to my work city du jour (sorry for the rant), I wanted to present the next 100 Little Pleasures of (Touring) Life:
#16: Reading the free magazines in the seat back pocket and making plans for future travel.
Not only do they show a map of the places I've been to or hope to get to, but they give me some creative ideas to do when I have down time. You know, all the places I want to travel to when I'm finally off the road from traveling.
Newest plan, thanks to United Airlines: Three Perfect Days in NYC. Though I'd better wait until it warms up a bit... 2012 perhaps?
