An Award Winning Weekend

.
Nashville, TN:  This past weekend, being my last weekend at home before I head on the road again for a while, turned out to be a somewhat random and definitely wonderful three days!  In honor of music's biggest night, here's a quick recap of the sweetness:

The closest thing I have to what could be actual sisters are Anne & Bridget.  Our parents are best friends and, while we were not close growing up (when 4 years & 2 years age differences actually count in high school years), we have formed a pretty close bond in the past few years.  The first time they came to Nashville, I was on the road with a former boss.  So they decided to try again.  Friday, they arrived in the late morning and we enjoyed a little calm, coffee and conversation.  We even waited until 5pm until we started drinking wine.  While looking for something fun to do for the night, I stumbled across a little concert going on that night that the two were gracious enough to tag along.

Ironically, another connection to my childhood was playing at the Mercy Lounge.  Jordan Knight, yes, THAT Jordan, sang, danced and gave me those same giggly feelings I had over 20 years ago.  I'm wondering if I'll ever grow out of my teenage fantasy, but to be honest, I don't wanna.  Sometimes a boy band crush is the boost I need to get me through a season of romantic (or lack thereof) uncertainty.

But, as it turns out, the weekend with the girls was cut short when I got a call to come to LA for a Sunday show.  The beauty of my job is that I have the flexibility to schedule adventures.  The flip side is that when duty calls, it's on, regardless of what my personal plans are.

Though sad to leave A+B, on Saturday, I found myself surrounded by palm trees and celebrities.  The funniest part about working most awards shows is that I end up watching them on a TV monitor in a dressing room backstage, which is pretty much the same thing as watching them at home... except when I walk out into the hallway and pass the likes of Lady G, LL and Sir P.

Monday, I was able to meet up with the BFF at LAX as we both flew home to our respective homes after our respective events.  Two hours of sharing stories and laughter was an unexpected dose of love I am so grateful to have gotten.

Though a bit of a whirlwind, I'd like to thank all those who made this weekend possible.  To God for letting me do it all (though sorry I missed church this week!). To the music for still exciting me and employing me. And to the fans friends, I'm so lucky to have you in my life!
