TMA: FlightTrack Pro

.
Somewhere on a plane between Dallas Ft. Worth, TX & Los Angeles, CA:  I was excited that my last minute call to work a show in LA this weekend would let me utilize another TMA (Tour Manager App, for those that don't follow my blog religiously.  As in, most of you.).

This morning, I flew from Nashville to Dallas Ft. Worth.  The boss was coming from Florida and meeting up with me in DFW, then the two of us would fly on together to Los Angeles.  Easy enough, but the logistical dance would be to figure out: where am I landing, where is she landing, which gate is our next flight taking off from and are all of these flights on time.

No need to worry with the next TMA: FlightTrack Pro.  I simply opened up the app and added my flight info by choosing the airline, departing city, arriving city & date -- then it gave me a list of all of the flights to & from those places, on that airline, on that day and I saved the one that was mine.  I did the same for the other two flights and now, all three flights were stored on my phone.

Now the (organizational) fun begins!

First, I make sure that all of the flights are selected correctly.

Then I check on the status of where the other plane is in the air.

Next, check out the departure and arrival gates for each flight.  Luckily in this case, I landed at A33, she was at A34, then together we went to D33.  This, of course, went even more smoothly when we were whisked away by an AA rep in a golf cart.
Now, granted, there are other options for obtaining this information.  I can get an app for individual airlines or I can point my eyes upward, instead of down at my phone, and look at the screens in the airport terminal itself.  But this just seems to offer everything you need in one location... and in the palm of my hand.

The price for this app is $9.99.  While I normally try to stick in my comfort zone of FREE or $1.99 apps, I figure this one is important enough to pony up.  There is a less expensive version for $4.99, but lacks the integration of TripIt, which makes it quicker & more reliable to get the flight info you are looking for.  For 5 extra bucks, meeting my boss when she walks off the plane & knowing exactly where to go without fretting makes it priceless.
