In a SUV somewhere between Pittsburgh, PA & Johnstown, PA: Sometimes, making travel plans for the group can be a bit of a gamble. You want to stay near the gig, but when flying in, you want to be close to the airport. And, since the band will usually have an evening and morning free, you want to be somewhere near shops & restaurants. Most times, these three requests do not coincide.
Yesterday, for instance, we flew into Pittsburgh, which is the closest airport to our show in Johnstown, PA. And by close, I mean 2 hours away. Since we are going to be flying out of Pittsburgh tomorrow and since Johnstown doesn't offer as many nice hotel options as Pittsburgh, we opted to stay in downtown Pittsburgh. Which is still a 25 mins. drive from the airport, but at least we get to sleep in heavenly beds!
The downside of staying 2 hours from the venue is having to drive 2 hours to the venue today. Luckily, my SUV driver pointed out a little hole under my personal air control that made the ride not only fly by, but also, productive:
#25: A computer charger socket in a SUV on a long ride.

Along with my USB wifi card, I can spend the next 2 hours finalizing today's guest list, making next week's itinerary and trying to stay on top of emails, without worrying when my computer battery is going to run out.
The bigger challenge is going to be whether or not I can avoid potential car sickness from reading & writing in a SUV. At that point, all bets are off.
