TMA: A Triple Shot of International Travel Apps

.
Mannheim, Germany:  I usually like to talk about one app per blog in my TMA series, but in light of my current international touring, I wanted to share three of my favo(u)rite useful apps while traveling overseas.

1.   London Tube app.  Navigating around London is super easy with thanks to their underground subway system, which is color coded and fairly easy to access from wherever you are.  The app makes planning your journey that much easier.  With a few taps on my phone, I was able to pre-plan the band & crew’s trip to Music Bank from the hotel for rehearsals.  I compared the app’s directions to the computer’s directions and printed out a sheet for them, step by step.  Or in this case, line by line.

For $0.99, it’s totally worth the cost, especially when I can use it anytime I go back (which will hopefully be often and soon).

2.  SBB Mobile app.  When the train option turned into a reality, this app was helpful in making sure I was on the right train and I exited at the right stop.  I was able to save my journey and watch, in real time, as we choo-choo’d down the countryside.  It was especially helpful since I wasn’t 100% sure of all the French & German instructions (both written & spoken over the loudspeaker).  It's a free app and a free boost of confidence.

3. Currency Convertor app.  For any country you travel to that uses a different types of monies, this is a quick and easy way to find out the most current exchange rate.  You can store multiple currencies and quickly see that whatever you are about to spend costs way more than you were most likely hoping for.
