Nashville, TN: One room in my house that I simply don't utilize enough is my guest room. When I bought my condo, the walls were painted yellow -- the same color as the kitchen and the bathroom (now olive green and chalkboard black, respectively).
About a year later, I was inspired by the wall color at the
wine bar down the street (before they switched to a neutral off-white paint. boo.) and painted the walls a deep teal blue. (And by painted, I mean I hired someone to do paint. The word PAIN is in paint for a reason!)
As a guest room, the futon, though functional as a couch, was simply not very comfy as a bed. I added an air mattress on top when it was folded out flat, but I still couldn't hide the fact that it was a futon. With an air mattress on top.
However, I hated to waste space in the good-sized-but-not-great-sized room by adding a queen-sized bed, which would only be used on occasion by drop bys. You know, just in case I wanted to do art work there again someday.
Inspired by a friend's suggestion and the
European hotel style of a "double" room, I got two single beds, separated them for the space, with the option of putting them together to make one queen bed!
With the help of some fancy pillows,
(Love is all you need... along with some other squishy pillows, when available)
and blackout curtains, I can now host one or two people
comfortably,
plus have room to do my art.
And favorite new addition to the room that really makes it mine? This snellycat-equse gift from Dish & Gina.
So please, come stay with me. Be my guest!
