Los Angeles, CA: I received an email from one of my band guys at the beginning of the month about a new app he thought was cool. I promptly put it into my "to do" folder with plans to check it out when I had a free moment. Weeks went by and I couldn't seem to find that free moment (or remember to check that folder). So, on our latest fly trip, he showed it to me on his phone with the sales pitch, "YOU are gonna LOVE this one!"
Guess I had to see it in person to catch on, but luckily I finally did... because it's a great TMA!
It's called the Key Ring App. It stores all of your account numbers from the various companies you are connected with. So, instead of having a bunch of cards in your wallet or your key chain, you enter or scan them into your iPhone, allowing you to ditch the cards and have the numbers in one centralized location.
As soon as I got the app, I entered in my American Airlines number (since that's the only one I know by heart) and it promptly showed up as the first card on my list, then showed me three online offers connected with AA.
I then tried the scan option with my AAA card which I carry around in my wallet but haven't ever really (knock on wood needed). It was an easy process -- just like taking a photo with the iPhone:
And once it captured the bar code, I chose what retailer it was from a pre-programmed list (everything from 21st Amendment Wine & Spirits to the Omaha Public Library to the YMCA... or write in your own) and it added it to my personalized list:
It's another freebie and it looks like there are a few other things you can do with this app. They even provide a video with tips that you can watch directly from your iPhone, but I might have to put that in my "to do" folder before I get another free moment to check it out.
