Valley Village, CA: When I realized I was going to be away for an extended period of time, I knew I needed to find a place I could call home. Not just a hotel room or a place I had
temporarily resided in (again), but a place I could feel comfortable coming back to at the end of each day. Plus, something that was furnished and could accomodate an irregular schedule. I did a bit of searching when
I was here last and struggled with the choices of picking something colorful vs. trendy vs. homey. I went with the option that made the most sense in terms of location to work and overall feeling of comfort... even though it doesn't have the best selection of restaurants in walking distance or hip LA feel.
After being here only five days, I realize I made the perfect choice.
The entryway is covered in overgrown shrubs and once you walk through the white gates to the lower level,
you see your own personal patio, complete with lounge furniture and running fountain.
Inside, the living room is bright and welcoming and offers a small but perfectly functioning kitchen (with a large island and two bar stools).
The decor is something I could have picked out myself (if I watched enough
HGTV) and the only bit I added was a
Thistle Farms Lemon Sage candle (which is officially my LA home scent now).
The fridge is stocked with condiments and leftover treats from past guests, including a container of ice cream and waffles, a bag of frozen peas and grapes and a bottle of rum (did they know I was coming?).
The oversized bed has multiple pillows (which is perfect for making my sleep fort),
stackable washer/dryer and ironing board/iron combos make for easy laundry days,
and there is a separate office space complete with a desk and a cross on the wall (again, did they know I was coming?).
Most importantly, I can stop living out of my suitcase and actually hang up clothes in the gigantic closet.
Although I miss my sweet condo in Nash, I am so grateful I found a home away that will be a cushiony abode on this next leg of the journey.
