Asheville, NC: Two years ago, I started the
365 Project. You take a picture each day and post it on this site. I can't remember specifically how I discovered it in the first place, but for a few weeks, then months, I was enthralled by it.
At the end of the year, I was aware that I had forgotten to take a photo four days in 2011. For some people, that meant I took a picture
361 days in the year, but to me, that meant
I MISSED FOUR DAYS. As a perfectionist, I decided to do it for
another year so I could take a picture
everyday and redeem myself.
The good news: I did it. The better news: I am OVER it.
I love looking back on my life, in pictures, but somedays, it's just really tiring to try to remember to take a picture. And then Photoshop / Lightroom it. And then describe it. And then post it.
(Side note: I realize others in the world have REAL problems. And I apologize for this post in general for being such a #DebbieDowner / #whitegirlproblems / #firstworldproblems.)
However - I want to take a moment to say: while it was fun and why I am grateful to have an organized photographic calendar to remind me where I was over the last year, I am graciously stepping away from this platform to cut myself a little slack in 2013. I figure I have 726 days (2 years minus 4 days) on record, so I'm set.
I'll still take pictures because I love it and I'll still use Instagram and Facebook and Twitter because it's fun to share. But I am officially done with posting a pic each day.
However, I wanted to post one last pic at the end of the year:
For the rest of the year (sans middle finger), you can check out the
365 Project.
Peace!
