In a SUV somewhere between Durant, OK and Dallas, TX: When I'm in Nashville, for weekend / short trips, I park my car at The Parking Spot. It's one exit past the airport and after I drop off my car, I am whisked away in a black stretch limo to the terminal where I'm dropped off and wished bon voyage.
Two days later (give or take a day), I return to the same fancy curbside service and retrieve my car. They'll even give my wheels an oil change or car wish if I so desire. Plus, there's free bottled water to take before I drive home.
(Auga Libre)
Somehow -- after being off and on in Southern California for almost six months -- it just hit me that this is a chain company. Which means I've got a familiar, safe place to park my car when I leave my temporary home and fly out for one-offs. Which makes this:
#43: The Parking Spot
one of the 100 Little Pleasures of (Touring) Life.
There are many similarities to the Nashville and Los Angeles locations: both are situated near the airport, both let you use your AAA card to get 10% off your final tab and at both, you can accumulate points on an awards system (which later you can redeem for free days of parking).
However, there are a few differences too:
The Parking Spot in LA has palm trees around it.
The Parking Spot in LA has an additional parking option...
but a higher rate.
The Parking Spot in LA uses a bright yellow mini bus with black spots
to transport to and from the airport.
(I miss my limo...)
But the biggest similarity -- and most important thing -- is that I know I can park my car safely at a reputable company and not worry about my car or the contents inside of it.
That, and the free water.
